Africa 046 (800x533).jpg

My husband has always wanted to see the mountain gorillas so off we were to Uganda & Rwanda. You could see gorillas in both the Bwindi and Volcanos National Parks, but we felt that the best viewing was in Uganda. The terrain is much more difficult, but well worth it. As we drove through Rwanda it was good to see that the people were recovering from the horrible genocide that occurred in 1993. We just hope that they continue to develop and move forward in a positive way. After the Gorillas we flew to Arusha, Tanzania for a wildlife safari. Visited the Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. There were an incredible number of elephants in the Tarangire Park along with many other wild animals. During this trip we saw the following animals: elephants, giraffe, zebra, water buck, mongoose, dik dik, impala, cock hyrix, wildebeast, ostrich, lions, cheetas, leopard, water buffalo, african tortoise, monkeys, gazelle, hippos, and many birds. The highlight of the trip was on the very last day our guide spotted 2 black rhino (male & female). This is very rare for they are solitary animals and the only time you will see them together is during mating season. Our guide was the best! I did put a little bit of pressure on him the last day, telling him that we could not return to the lodge until we saw a black rhino....I was only kidding and he got a good chuckle. If you ever wanted to go to Africa, I highly recommend
